Stop Children’s Cancer is committed to the prevention, control, and cure of childhood cancers.

Our Beginning

A child’s dream to find cures began the quest of Stop Children’s Cancer in 1981.

After being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 10, Bonnie Freeman shared she wanted to help other children with cancer.

Though Bonnie lost her battle to cancer 2½ years later, her parents, Howard and Laurel Freeman, her sister, Carolyne R. Freeman, many friends and supporters continue to support her quest and mission to Stop Children’s Cancer.

To date Stop Children’s Cancer has raised over $10 million and continues the quest for funding much needed clinical trials, basic research, research scholars, and research equipment for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine. (Refer to Research History)

Several childhood cancers have a higher success rates, because of specific research projects funded by Stop Children’s Cancer. Today, many children with cancer have the opportunity for a hopeful future and being able to enjoy a long life!
